Too many wills are never located when they are needed, or their authenticity is questioned when they are. A lifetime of careful intentions can come to nothing because a single document went missing or fell into doubt.
Alamo Wills exists for one purpose: so the people you care about can find and trust what you wrote. We are not a law firm and not a software company — we are a registry. You photograph your handwritten will; we seal it, record its fingerprint on a public blockchain, and keep a sealed copy on file for the people you designate. The proof is public and permanent. The contents remain private and yours.
Why “Alamo Wills”
We took our name from what the Alamo has long stood for: resolve — holding fast to what matters. A handwritten will is a small act of exactly that kind, setting down in your own hand how you wish to be remembered. Our work is to make that act endure.
A will written entirely in your own handwriting is a venerable instrument. Thomas Jefferson drafted his own by hand, and such wills are recognized in Texas and many other states to this day. What a handwritten will could never have before is an independent, tamper-evident record that outlives its keeper. That is what we add.
What we believe
- The original comes first. Your original document stays in your possession. Courts generally require the original; our task is to make certain no one can doubt what it said.
- No hidden terms. The $18.36 recording fee does the essential work.
- It should outlast us. The blockchain record does not depend on Alamo Wills continuing to exist. Should we be gone one day, your archive still verifies. That is the point.
- People review what matters. Death certificates are examined by a person. Releases are logged. Nothing of consequence happens automatically.
The plain statement
We are not attorneys and do not represent ourselves as such. A photograph of a will is not the will, and a blockchain record does not make any document legally valid — it proves what existed and when, which is at times exactly what a court needs to establish. Handwritten wills are recognized in Texas and a number of other states, but not all. For advice, retain an attorney; for a permanent record, you are in the right place.
